The main skill we focus on at Pingu's English Laos is speaking and conversation. We know that students coming to our school are not native English speakers. English is often their second or third language and we keep that in mind. We want to focus on conversational skills to help your child have the confidence to speak English like it is their first language.
Storytime is one of our favorite times during class. Our beautifully illustrated and fun storybooks that follow along with the Pingu storyline, help kids enjoy reading. We want our students to focus on all areas of the English language, including developing their reading skills.
We make sure to save time each class for writing time. From teaching our level 1 students to hold a pencil to teaching our level 4 students complex English sentences. Writing is an important skill that children will need moving forward.
We introduce our students to the computer and help them develop their IT skills with educational activities. The world today is almost all online, making IT skills very important for our children's future.
We love song time. We end every class with a fun Pingu song that our students can sing and dance to. Songs that go along with the songbook, students can sing and follow along with the lyrics. At the end of the day, our main priority is for your child to have FUN and ENJOY learning. We want to make the English language fun and not intimidating, that way children are encouraged to continue learning. Song time is a good way to keep things fun and get our students moving and off their feet.
Activity time looks different in every class. Students enjoy our variety of activities and games in the Pingu's English activity book as well as games and activities our teachers create for the students. Activity time allows students to focus on multiple skills including reading, writing, speaking and problem-solving.
A huge part of our program is social time. Students are participating in social time from the second they walk through the door. Your child will be conversating with native English speakers and children from all different backgrounds. It's time for them to make new friends and gain confidence in speaking English with their friends.
